Rubberized Raincoat or Talma - Double Breasted "Bertrand" example

This talma is exceptional and was a real bargain! The rubberized fabric is period-accurate and adds a great touch to my mid-19th-century sailor ensemble. I wore it during a heavy, sweltering downpour while out on the boat and came home bone-dry! Unfortunately, mine arrived without the internal branding and was quite loose in the shoulders, but nothing that can’t be fixed with the right adjustments. Absolutely recommended!

This was a gift for my husband. He thought it was thinner than expected but will do the job. He had to shorten the sleeves but he is very happy with it.

This is one awesome well made Talma! I know it will keep me dry as I bought the cape prior to this and the cape kept me dry at the monsoon in Pilot Knob a couple of years ago.

I received my Bertrand Style Double Breasted Raincoat and couldn't be more pleased with the quality! The raincoat is very well made and sheds water perfectly, keeping me completely dry on rainy days at events. Contact Chris before ordering to discuss sizing. He advised me to order one size larger to accommodate the bulk of a sack or frock coat, and his advice was spot on as the coat fits me perfectly, with just a bit of room for ease of movement. I highly recommend this product for anyone needing a 19th century appropriate raincoat.

I finally used my coat this weekend. It was very comfortable, and kept me dry.

I have not examined the original "Bertrand" example and I have not had the opportunity to try my coat in the rain but this reproduction is well made and fits well. The coat is long, reaching almost to the knee, which I like. This rubber raincoat should also work well as a groundcloth for my civilian impression. As always the service at South Union Mills was excellent and delivery was fast. Thanks for another fine product!
