This is a great mid 19th century style shoe that is made after the shoes that were found during the Arabia excavation. Our reproduction is made from waxed flesh upper leather,and feature double row pegged soles (not sewn as in some repros being offered) and square cut nail constructed leather heels. They also feature red leather binding around the upper, as the originals, and are very smart looking shoe! NOTE: DUE TO THE CUT AND LAST USED WITH THIS SHOE, PLEASE ORDER 2 SIZES LARGER THAN YOU NORMALLY WEAR FOR A PROPER FIT.

In the first two weeks I had these they went with me to the beach for a few days, through the redwoods, up a giant rock on a hike, and later knee deep in a river for gold rush. They were comfortable out of the box and didn't give me any troubles, and held up well through everything I put them through. They're a bit roomy since you can't lace them down, but wearing thick socks fixed that easy enough. I would recommend keeping some extra lace material handy since leather cord (any leather cord, including the spare material I bought) can snap if you're not gentle with it. I bought a spool of it for a few dollars, and friend of mine who also has these uses hemp cord. I ordered a 12, and was shipped a 13 since they run small I was told. Mine fit about perfect, so I suppose just order true to size. These are killer shoes and I'm glad I got a pair, well worth the money.
