Our mid-19th century boots are the standard boot of the time period. Our leather boots are made straight last with a 12 inch top and hand pegged soles and a nailed heel. The boots are lighter weight than many reproductions currently on the market today, and are closer to the weight of the originals we have viewed and handled. Finally, an accurate boot for a working class/soldier impression.

Boots like these seem to have been very common in the mid-19th Century. Frequently seen in period photographs and George Caleb Bingham paintings like "The Jolly Flatboat Men. Leather is lightweight and supple, and should acquire the characteristic sag often seen in period boots after several wearings. Incidentally, a well-worn pair of boots much like these were recovered from the steamboat Arabia.
