Federal Issue Style Contract Brogan - Sewn Sole

Sure wish I had bought these first instead of the ones from sutler row. Half the weight, 3 times as comfortable and all for not much more money.

These are lighter than most brogans I've seen at mainstream sutlers. Only time will tell what that means for longevity, but they seem well constructed, and the thinner leather is more supple, meaning more comfortable. I haven't fully broken them in yet, but I can already tell they will be a vast improvement over my last pair. As other reviews note, they do run a bit large. I ended up with a size and a half down from my normal shoe size before then fit.

Communication was fantastic. Ordered what I thought was my size, or them in 3 days before the event. They were too big. Emailed SUM and got an instant reply telling me to ship them back and they would send me a size smaller. I expressed my disappointment that I wouldn’t have them for the event. I get a phone call back the next day asking my permission to send my brogans with another customer to the event I was going to. So I had them for the event! These are super comfortable right away. This is my 3rd pair of brogans in 28 years, and I couldn’t be happier with them!

There are very great quality and that’s no exaggeration. From the second I put them on, they get great, no break in time is really necessary. The leather is not too thick or thin, just perfect. They are also very light. These are leagues better than anything from a mainstream sutler. I will buy another pair after mine have completely and totally worn out.

These hand made brogans look really good. I haven't worn them out in the field as of yet . They look and feel good on my feet. No doubt that they will be great at an reenactment event.

I've used these now at a couple of reenactments and have found them to be pretty comfortable. They seem very accurate and a good value. I broke them in wearing them around for about a week before I had to use them.
