Step into the 18th Century—On Your Terms

You don’t just wear history—you bring it to life.

This late 18th century waistcoat is built for those who want more than a costume. It’s for the man who wants to look right, feel right, and stand with quiet confidence knowing every detail earns a second look.

Cut from patterns drafted directly from original period garments and tailor manuals, this waistcoat gives you the silhouette and presence of the late 1700s—without compromise.

What sets yours apart:

  • Authentic cut drawn from original 18th-century examples
  • Period-correct cloth that looks and wears the part
  • Hand-finished details where it matters most
  • Hand-sewn buttonholes for true historical accuracy
  • Choice of brass dome or pewter buttons to match your impression
  • 100% linen lining for comfort and breathability
  • Functional, linen-lined pockets—because form should follow function

Every piece is made to order, giving you something that isn’t pulled off a shelf—but built for your impression, your kit, your story.

Made for you, not mass-produced
Your waistcoat is custom-made upon order by skilled traditional craftsmen. Please allow approximately 6 weeks for completion. The result is worth the wait: a garment that looks like it belongs in the 18th century—and on you.

Designed with purpose
Patterned in the USA and sewn in India by artisans who understand the value of doing things the right way, not the fast way.

    Excelsior Late 18th Century Waistcoat

Posted by W.F. Brown, III on 6th Apr 2026

I am extremely pleased with the Excelsior Late 18th Century Waistcoat. Workmanship is extremely high quality. I am glad these garments are offered in bigger sizes (I ordered a size 60).. I ordered the dark brown wool with the brass buttons and am pleased with the color. I'm sure this will not be the last waistcoat I get from SUM. Now, to put the waistcoat to some good hard use in the woods and at Martin's Station.
